All About A Lawn Sprinkler System

A sprinkler system can make your yard more attractive, enhance its value, and provide better health for the plants. But the system needs to be installed correctly, or it will cause many problems.

A landscaping company can perform a thorough evaluation of your landscape and help you determine which sprinklers are most suitable for it. They can also install the system and repair any issues.

Installation Process

Typically, the installation process includes three steps: digging trenches 12″ below grade; putting in piping, wires and valves; and attaching sprinkler heads. In addition to this, the installation team will replace the soil and plants displaced during the excavation so that your lawn can grow again.

After digging, the contractor will place a riser that connects each sprinkler head to the PVC pipe. They’ll also add a microfilter and pressure reducer to the pipes near flower beds and trees.

Then, the contractor will connect the pipes to a main water supply line. This connection will include valves that prevent contaminated water from flowing back into your home’s main water supply.

Once the piping is in, you’ll want to flush it with water before connecting the sprinkler heads. This will remove any dirt that’s clogged the pipes. Once the system is fully assembled, you’ll turn on the water to supply it and then operate the valves manually.

A sprinkler system is a complicated set of components that work together to control the water flow to your lawn. These include a controller, fittings or couplings that connect pipes, hoses and sprinkler heads, timers to schedule when the system turns on and off, valves to open and close the pipes, and a backflow preventer to keep water from flowing into your home’s plumbing.

To get the most out of your installation, make sure you have a clear idea of how many zones you want to cover, and what your lawn needs. It’s also helpful to get an estimate of how much water is needed, or to ask the manufacturer what kind of pressure is required to run a good sprinkler system. The right equipment can save you money on your water bill and help you maintain a healthy, green yard. The best way to do this is to hire an experienced contractor. They can install your sprinkler system correctly the first time, and will ensure that you get the most out of your investment.

Whether you’re building a new home or replacing an existing sprinkler system, you need a permit. A permit is a legal document that provides a permanent construction record to confirm that your project was designed, constructed and completed in accordance with current building codes and approved plans and specifications.

The permit process is a long and complicated one that may take weeks, even months to complete. In some cases, you’ll need to hire a licensed plumber or fire suppression contractor to handle the application and submit it for approval.

For new sprinkler systems, you’ll need to get the plans stamped by a Registered Design Professional (RDP). Alterations in existing sprinkler systems can be done without filing under two limited alteration categories that don’t exceed budget, time or scope constraints set by the Department of Buildings.

Sprinklers are an excellent way to maintain your lawn while saving you time and money on water bills. However, like any other home system, they require regular maintenance in order to remain in good working condition.

Most sprinkler installation services offer a warranty for the equipment they installed to protect the customer against unexpected breakdowns and expensive repairs. This warranty is a written promise by the company to its customers that it will provide repair and replacement of any equipment they install that fails to work as intended.

Depending on the type of system and installation, these warranties range from 90 days to five years. Be sure to read the terms carefully before you agree to them.

Typically, the warranty only covers defects in materials or workmanship. It does not cover the cost of testing backflow devices, clogging of components due to debris in your water supply, or other causes of failure. Additionally, this warranty excludes damages that occur from improper use or failure of the system to comply with local or state building codes.
